Ruger 10-22 Cambodian Tire(Selkirk MB)

When they have 50% off and double Canadian Tire money they would still be expensive.

More likely someone at corporate made a data entry mistake or hates guns and will fudge the sales numbers to remove them from floor space for lack of sales

That's exactly what management did at my local CT. They only carried low end stuff anyways but prices were in line then all of a sudden I noticed the prices were through the roof. Stuff sat for months and didn't move then they put everything on clearance because it wasn't selling. As the inventory is now reducing the space is being replaced with other stuff.

Just chatted with our local CTC gun buyer - the same rifle / SKU # in CTC Wawa is $349.

Selling guns in a CTC is at the discretion of the store owner - they are not bound by any corporate direction as to pricing. So basically the owner can set whatever price they want on any firearm.

Another CTC locally has clearance stickers on its firearms. If the owner decides to move and put the store up for sale to a new owner, any stock that shows as "discontinued" in the CTC computer system is worth $0 on the inventory transfer. Since the new owner doesnt have to pay for it, the outgoing owner is motivated to reduced this type of inventory before they transfer.

In a small store such as here where we get new owners every couple of years can make for some good deals.

Sounds like a lot of things at Canadian Tire - regular price grossly high so they can put it on what looks like a great sale. I am looking at you screwdriver and wrench sets.

Cannot see myself buying a rifle at CDN tire when there are so many other places to pick up wpns from people who know a lot more about the product. The fact that none of their sales associates have told management how out of place these prices are speaks volumes.

Grande Prairie just recently opened the largest Canadian Tire in Canada I have yet to check it out but people have told me they now carry guns and more shooting stuff. The old one didn't and since wholesale sports closed we have a lack of good stores here. I hope cabelas takes notice of the area one day and moves in

I've been in Barton's a few times while hunting up in that area and found them to supply a heartfelt load of goodies.
Unloaded me wallit a few times as well.
Gooder thing fur dem cash mahsheenzs.

The Canuck innertube in Nanaimo is clearing out their gun selection. Even with the 'sale' price. It is still over priced. They have some reloading stuff. $69 US869 and $109 209 primers.

Nutty pricing but then again, where I live...there are no firearms @ Canadian Tire at all, just dusty/faded/VERY over-priced ammo that's been sitting in a dark cabinet for decade. lol I was shocked the first time I walked into the Canadian Tire in Belleville ON a few years back. I would consider having THAT Canadian Tire as my local gun shop to be a very large improvement in my situation! :) The "wall of ammo" was something to behold. On an entirely different note...

Am I the only one who doesn't like Canadian Tire being called "Cambodian Tire"? lol I have a Cambodian friend, and several Vietnamese co-workers....all great people. Can't help but think that term is meant to be derogatory. Just thinking out loud. Sits about as well as terms like "citidiot" do, as I learned a LONG time ago...that people don't need to live in cities to be idiots. lol

Happy Easter everyone

Yeah, I think the whole Cambodian tire thing is supposed to be calling out the cheap made in Asia (China mostly, but Chinese tire doesn't have a nice ring to it) stuff they sell. I don't think most people are trying to insult Cambodians, but that is certainly an unintended side effect... I usually just call it crappy tire, but I'm sure other stuff comes out too...

Now, as for those prices in the OP that's something else! Some of the CTs around here sell guns, and they certainly don't have good prices, but they're not double + what real stores sell em for...
