So I took my brand spanking new Ruger 10/22 installed in a Archangel marauder kit to the range today and could'nt get it to feed properly at all. Every third round was jamming up. The bullets were hitting the top edge of the chamber and getting crushed. I thought it could be the promag 9-22 mags but they are the new V2's. So I tried the factory 10 round mag, it worked better but still FTF at least once per mag. Now i'm thinking it might be the cheap winchester 555 round bulk boxes. They work great in my S&W 22A pistol. Anybody have problems with this ammo? Any suggestions?

I have two 10/22's (one is 20 years old, the other is 1 year old in a Marauder stock) and they both eat up HP ammo with no issues. Actually I have only used HP ammo in them. Usually Fed 525 Bulk pack or CCI Mini-mags.
I am thinking your problem may be either a mag, ammo or both problem, but I don't expect the HP bullets would be an issue.

I put a brick of Winchester 555 through my brand new 10/22 this past weekend. I did have roughly 4 or 5 failures-to-feed and 1 misfire. The FTFs were pretty much even between the factory 10 round mag and my Butler Creek 25 round steel lip mag. I fed the misfired cartridge twice and got good primer strikes on both accounts. Still, I did manage to fire the remaining 550 rounds without a hitch.
Is the mag tight in the mag well? What happens if you hold the bolt open and push down on the front of the mag before firing? It's possible the mag plunger or the mag release is hanging up and not putting enough pressure on the mag.
Rounds should be pretty level sitting in and coming out of the mags.
The rim recess on the bolt could have a rough spot on it, stopping the rim of the cartridge from sliding all the way into place. This might make the round tip up. If the extractor isn't seated properly, this could also cause the same thing. Or if the tip is too sharp or burred.
My 10/22 eats pretty much anything, always has. I have a GM barrel with a bentz chamber now and that hasn't changed anything. Newer 10/22s are made with a cast bolt instead of a forged bolt, and the surface and machining of it is rougher.
