Ruger 10 22 future

Hi all, I had recommended a 10 22 TD with Magpul Hunter X Stock, to a young woman who's grandmother offered to buy her first rifle, cool huh! She likes it but there seems to be something in the air about the RCMP "cracking" down on the 10 22 platform, so she says. I know the over cal mags are prohib now, is there something else in the works? thanks for looking.

What about the Remington 597? Very similar rifle and the mags are legal.
