Ruger 10/22 number matched stocks and stowage within stock.

Helped a friend strip down their gun and made an interesting discovery. Does anyone else's factory 10/22 wood stock have the matching serial under the butt plate?

I drilled a hole to keep extra batteries for my red dot in the butt, so I've had the plad off a bunch of times. Never noticed any numbers though.

Ya, all you need is a spade bit. Only thing is you need to remember a multi tool or a screwdriver when you go out to bet the plate off. Or I guess you could also use a nickel or quarter or whatever too.
