I purchased a Ruger 10/22 Carbine and plans to modify it by using an ATI Strikeforce folding stock. When its folded, it will be less than 26 inches for sure.

Will it be considered restricted after my mod?

I plan to just use it in the range.

If I go hunting with it, I will reinstall the original Ruger synthetic stock.

Also: I am licensed for both NR and Restricted Class. I also have a valid ATT.

Do you guys see any problems with this scenario?

You're best off to phone CFO, but you're good to go with the new stock. Still non-restricted. But again, you should phone. 1 800 731 4000
Enjoy your new gun,
peace..

Just make sure your total lenght doesn't go below 26 inch, bringing a non restricted rifle un 26 inch total makes it prohibited. If you want to do so and have your restricted class, just buy a ruger charger which is the same thing as a 1022, but is already restricted, then you can modify anything you want because originally iy was shorter than 26in. Anyways, anything you start doing on your 1022, call the cfo for an advice

I measured my ruger 10/22 after the mod stock and with folded stock, total length is 26 1/4 inches. Still on Non Restricted class.
Tried to call CFO but the department that handles these kind of questions was closed (Friday @ 3:30PM). I will try to call again on Monday.

If its over 26" you should be good to go, why call the CFO on it ?
