I am sure there have been many threads on this, but I couldn't find anything that answers my question in the search. Could someone tell me the type of mount that comes stock with the Ruger 10/22? I purchased a Simmons 9x32 rimfire scope for my takedown, but it appears as if the rings that came with the scope mount do not mount straight on the rail. The whole scope appears to be skewed to the right.

Also, has anyone installed some quick release rings on their takedown? If so, where did you purchase them? This will allow me to continue to use the bag that came with the takedown, as the rifle and scope do not fit in the bag together.

Thanks.

the rail on the new ones takes both dovetail and picitinny mounts, I have not had issues with either one. Those .22 rimfire scopes come with dovetail mounts, its possible that your grabbing the picitinny rail edge on one side and the dove tail on the other giving it a scewed mounting. You want to just grab the two centered rails not the actual physical edges of the entire rail.
Also the tabs on the ring bases (one side is sold, the other side is lose tabs and gets tightened by the screw) sometimes need to get flipped over...

Thanks, I will play with it a bit more. Maybe I do just need to flip the rings around.

Mine did too. Although I don't have any plans for optics.
I like the stock sights... I have enough guns with scopes. It's fun to break out the ol 10/22 to plink and really work on marksmanship at least once every time out.

Good luck with your rig. Perhaps if it's not already solved some pictures would help. I highly recommend everyone use imgur.com, fast and simple.... Shoot I'm letting my photobucket hate show again.

All the best,
TJ

My 10/22 came with the weaver rail as well, but my Simmons scope came with some dovetail rings. Take a look and let me know what you guys think. When mounted, they are skewed.

uhh I don't think that's mounted right. The fingers should be grabbing underneath the rail. You've got then crushing the top portion of the rail.

That was what I thought at first, but the rings are not able to grab the lower part of the rail. Therefore, I need a converter or new rings. Thanks for putting up with a dummy like me :D.

Get new rings!! Adaptivators are not as clean and increase the number of points of failure.
