Hi all,

I have a Ruger SR22 rifle and have noticed recently the the bullets in the magazine have scratches on them. I'm assuming this is caused by the bolt dragging across the round underneath the round that is being chambered. I've tried several different magazines and they all seem to have the same issue, although some are worse than others.

Has anyone else come across this issue, or is my gun defective?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its normal especially with hicap mags that put alot more spring pressure on the rounds. Its caused by the rim of the round being stripped being dragged across the round under it that's being pushed up.

When I had my sr22 there was no such occurrence happening. Also all the 25round 10/22 mags I have seen dont have springs in them at least Mine didnt.
There is a flat bi-metal spring inside the mag that uncoils as the mag is loaded, instead of the conventional wire compression spring.
Pretty much like a tape measure.
Without a spring the mag would not function.
