Hi,
How did it become that there is a shortage of Ruger 10-22's?
I read that Ruger is not taking any orders till they fulfill the ones they have.
Just curious!

These are the laws of supply and demand.

Simply put more people want a 10/22 than there is product on the shelf.

This causes prices to rise, as those more eager to buy will pay a premium.

Eventually manufacturers catch up to market demands and potentially flood the market in an over reaction to consumer demand that can be fickle since those same consumers look to alternate manufacturers for a comparable product to fill the market void.

This excess will then be shipped off, at a discount, to alternate markets to reduce stagnant inventory in the domestic market, places such as Canada will be likely recipients.

You will then be well satisfied with ample stock, reasonably priced, from multiple retailers.

There endeth the lesson.

Oh and check the EE!!!!!!!

I may be wayyy off here, so please go easy on me.. But, I think it has something to do with all the people who are concerned about a collapse, martial law, you know, the "zombie appocalypse, if you will.. It seems there are a great number of preppers favoring the 10/22, thus creating a shortage. Firearm sales have more than doubled since Obama took office... Like I said, could be way off, but, something to consider.

I was told that they aren't shipping to Canada due to the u.s election, I guess supply there is high too and people are hoarding them? Just what I'm told, same with ammo I can't get target load from le barons because nothing is coming up from stateside. If anyone knows of a 10/22 in black synthetic with scope at a store for a decent price let me know.

I'm going to buy a 10/22 today at a shop about 45 minutes from me. I'll let you know what they're carrying. I know they have several 10/22's because I just got off the phone with them.

Marlin 795 a better shooting .22 lr anyways.

Was thinking the same thing reading this thread. Mind you, try walking into a store and buying one of them~not in stock most of the time either. I've seen them online for almost $200, but bought mine for $125 in a big box store. Guess if you're will to pay too much...you can have either gun.

One of my friend is a big seller reloading supplies and buys everything directly for the US.
He was at the SHOT show and told me that there were 2 issues:
  1. US economy is pick up steam big time, especially in manufacturing (huge impact)
  2. shooters are stockpiling everything before US election

Trend 1 started around 8 month ago and US shooters are buying everything in sight (bullets, primers, powders, scopes, rifles, etc).
Remember that US economy has been in hibernation since autumn 2008.
That's 4 years of pent-up demand, also expect good car sales!

What Obama did exactly for the US gun owner ? What should they fear with the next US election ?

1) He has done nothing to US gun owners.
2) Another 4 years of Obama Presidency which probably means nothing for gun owners.

The current US gun panic buying is based on perceptions not on facts!
People tend to stay away from hard work or hard thinking because it's hard.

Obama getting another term has a lot to do with gun owners. If he continues to introduce more of his ridiculous BS laws, the US will turn upside down and many people feel they will need to protect themselves if/when that happens.. Factor in the economy and it's no surprise people are stocking up on guns and ammo.

Well they better share cuz I am running low on target loads and Le Barons has nothing left until the U.S coughs some up lol
