This is a heavy mod kit by Nordic for the Ruger 10/22.

Does anyone know if putting this stock (which is bolt-on, requiring no real mods) would make it prohibited?

The reason I ask is I was once inspected and they confiscated an AR-7 Stock I purchased at a local gun store with the reason that it makes the little .22 "too nasty looking"

If they really seized the stock, request it back, not illegal

Is this a joke? They can seize a stock? A stock is not a firearm. And the reason they gave; that can't be legal. I would sue their a*ses off. You'd get your stuff back plus a butt-load of money. This is insane beyond my wildest imagination! Sorry to hear about this man, but seriously, sue them; sue them into the stone age! Oh, and while you're at it; go to their house, confiscate CD Collections under the heading of "the cover is ugly, and nasty looking." Oh, and confiscate that Public Park in the bad section of town under the authority of "It's nasty looking." You could confiscate the whole city bro.

"...reason that it makes the little .22 "too nasty looking"..." That's not a reason to confiscate a legal stock. Talk to a lawyer. Your stock was stolen.

As long as it still satisfies the definition of an unrestricted firearm, I don't understand why it would suddenly turn into a "prohibited".

It was really quite a strange event, that inspection. Out of nowhere someone pulls up in my driveway, shows me a badge and had copies of all my green slips. He introduces himself and asks if he could inspect everything voluntarily, or he would come back with a warrant.

I'm meticulous about my care and storage so I let him in, and eventually he said the stock looks too scary and said I can either "surrender it to the queen" or he would take further action against me. I didnt care really and just let him take it.

This was way back in 1997 or so.

Thanks for all the info!

He probably thought it would look cool inside his safe. :) Just kidding...the only thing I've heard anyone having problems with, considering all the dressup kits available out there for the 10/22, has to do with overall length if the kit has some sort of folding or collapsible stock.

What that guy told you in 1997 was absolutely ridiculous, and I suspect that if you had gone and challenged his actions, he would have looked very silly. Instead, he probably received a promotion and is most likely running the department now. :D

WTF? That is seriously scary...the guy could have been anyone with a Keystone Cops badge...If this was in Ontario it would have been OPP? You should have also received a receipt for the gun (or was it just the stock?) and an info sheet on the process and possible recourse, etc. Also, normal procedure would usually have more that one "officer" attending for safety reasons, since guns are bad and gun owners are scary people...

Wow. Just... wow. I hope he didn't pee himself when he first saw it.

You said he had copies of all your greenslips. Did he actually show you the greenslip for this rifle and did he give you a reciept for the stock or did he take the whole rifle and give you the greenslip back.

That's the weirdest ####ing story I ever heard. I just don't know what to say to that. Some guy seen you buying the stock at the store and wanted it for himself, maybe?? Does bells go off for anyone else?
