Hi all,

as the title say, I have here a nice 10/22TD with a crooked rear sight. Bought it new and chose to install a red dot until I find a perfect solution. (Other than than, the rifle works flawlessly)
I'm afraid I can't really send it back to Ruger (across the border) so they can fix it. Has anyone here found the easiest way to fix it?
Cause I bought a TD so I can have a very compact little rifle....adding a red dot was not part of the plan.
Thank you for any help,

Eric

When you say "crooked rear sight", do you mean the top of the rear sight is slightly off-clocked in relation with the receiver or in relationship with the barrel/front sight.

Mine is about 5 degrees off-clocked with the receiver, but is fully aligned to the front sight. I just learned to live with it, and from my research there is nothing I can do about it (has something to do the take-down mechanism). Chad from IV8888 also has the same issue with his. Just one of many Ruger QC issues.

Well this was a issue with many. You dont have to ship it to the states. You would have to send it to Location Snap Shot in Quebec. Just contact Ruger and they will get you to send it to that warranty center. Might end up with a new gun so ship it like you received it. Or they might replace the barrel.

My TD had a defective receiver, took Ruger Canada/Snapshot 3 months to get me a new one. Just a heads up. Although I've heard CGN'ers experienced service as quick as 2 week turnaround with them.

O.k. That's just what I needed. Thank you. I'll get in touch with Snap Shot.

Warranty is always tough in Canada because we so much smaller than the US market. Always at the bottom of the list for spare parts. Location Snapshot is one of the better companies that is for sure!

The dovetail was actually machined by a CNC machine on a monday morning without coffee....or a friday afternoon after a beer during lunch time. So it's off in relation with the barrel/front sight.

The front and rear sights has the same dovetail size. So logic tells me that both dovetails are machined without dismounting/remounting the barrel. Then again...logic does not always apply with Ruger's QC department. This sounds more like a Christmas Eve 4:59pm run from the part time crew after the company beer filled lunch party.

Sometimes I feel like Ruger purposely makes it's 10/22's just crappy enough so you'll swap it out with aftermarket parts. I mean...just look at the stock trigger. The Takedown has been out for 5-6 years now? I'm surprised how there isn't more aftermarket support for it. Dlask...if you're reading this, we can really use some Takedown barrels! I'll take an 8 in Matte Black Bull Barrel with a sporter chamber in a heartbeat.
