Is there anyone in Canada that can rework a stock Ruger 10/22 trigger to an acceptable level for a reasonable price? Acceptable defined as 1.5 lbs with zero creep & over-travel and breaks nice and crisp and is consistent.
Thank You.

Ruger's BX-TRIGGER is pretty decent and takes it down to 3#. Available off the shelf and costs approx. $100. Installs in less than 2 minutes.

Yeah,I have installed a couple for friends, a definite improvement over the stock trigger and I feel definetley worth the $, but not exactly what I am looking for.

One would be grateful if you could do that to a bolt action let alone a semi.

Being a semi auto so you will have a slight amount of 'take up' before it would break crisp and a slight amount of over travel. (which is meaningless in any circumstance)... possibly 1.5 pounds... but it is trial and error, taking it apart, working it and testing, several times... and then possibly new parts and starting over... a fools money being spent.

The best I was doing, when I was doing them, was about 2 pounds and they felt really good. Back then I charged $75 and quit doing them because it wasn't enough and I didn't think charging more was fair... it is only a 10-22 after all.

Buy the Volquartsen trigger.

Unless you do the work yourself, anyone that actually charges out for their time will charge you more.

Lots of DIY info on the 10/22 sticky in Rimfire. Expect to go through it a half dozen times before you will be either satisfied or ready to loop back to buying the VQ stuff.

Gotta agree with guntech. Fantasy level expectations.

Good comment Dennis.
I went the Timney route and took the 5.75 pound trigger down to 3 and that is acceptable for my purposes.
Other's attempts have gone different routes with other manufacturers and they claim various amounts under 3#.

I've worked on stock 10/22 triggers before. Not worth it IMHO, especially with that plastic trigger. I've had them down to a reliable 2lbs and broke like glass but when I get under 1.75lbs, it becomes unsafe ie, engage safety, pull trigger, disengage safety and the sear would disengage. The creep was slightly reduced but it's still there.

The BX is a better option than paying someone to rework the stock trigger. When polished up, it's a very nice 2-2.5lb trigger.

What do you call reasonable?
