Hi, I am new to this so looking for some tips and am considering either of these as a fun target shooter. The VLEH looks the part as a decent target rifle with its bipod but is it any more accurate than the SR series or are these Ruger 22's all pretty much the same underneath?
Also, there seem to be at least 3 variants when it comes to the SR: SR-22, SR-22RDS, SR-22RT-E so I am trying to understand the differences. Is it that one has flip-up open sights, one has a flash suppressor and the other has neither?

The SR-22 is basically a 10/22 with an aluminum chassis that allows lots of upgrades with AR-15 accessories. If you want to bolt together a unique looking rifle using a lot of AR parts, then it is a great choice.

The VLEH is more about shooting and less about bolt on accessories. I agree with gasguzzler that a Dlask DAR-22 is a great alternative to the VLEH.

A few SR-22s:

My sr-22 is the RDS model which stands for rapid deploy sights. But it's also a threaded barrel. I have both of the firearms in question above. My sr.22 I use for flinging lead at steel plates within 50yrs with a red dot and my target 10/22 is used for mostly slow fire shooting small groups with a scope
