Greetings,

I am relatively new to shooting. I picked up my first pistol, a G17Gen4 back in September. Now it's time for the first rifle, and I decided (a long while ago) the Ruger 10/22 is probably the best place to start (for me). I have used my friends 10/22 on multiple occasions. I don't have any interest in hunting (for now), just target shooting.

I want to get the most basic model 10/22 and have a ATI Strikeforce stock put on it. I'm interested in the strikeforce for three reasons, the adjustable stock, the acc. rails, and the looks. I plan to buy a bipod with it (rail mounted.)

The biggest problem I have is settling on the optics. I don't want something cheap but I don't want to break the bank either. I'm looking for something optimized for approx. 25-150+ yds., and I don't really want to pay more than $150-200. I have been browsing sites like Cabelas and Wolverine etc. for a few weeks now, and I am overwhelmed with the options for scopes.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on this setup, especially the optics.

Thanks!

There is a special model of the 10-22 coming with the ATI Strikeforce stock already installed. If you can wait these should be here by the spring. The Vortex Sparc is a good choice if you don't want magnification otherwise most 3-9x32 scopes like Tasco come in in the $50-$60 range. If your buying a magnified scope make sure the parallax is intended for rimfire rifles. Phil.

Ok thanks. I see the Tasco scopes have mixed reviews, some people like them, some people don't. I guess it boils down to "you get what you pay for." I will keep looking.

I have a 10/22 with an ATI setup. It's awesome. The scope I use is a bushnell 3-9x32 that I picked up from my local shop but you can get them everywhere. It's magnification is from 3x to 9x and its 32mm across. 9x is lots for a .22 rifle.
