Any one have any experience with this rifle? It is a target version of the 77 rimfire in .17hmr with a nice medium grey finish on a semi heavy barrel in a grey laminate stock, very sharp looking rifle, just wondering how they shoot?

IMO you would be better off with a Savage, CZ, or Marlin in .17HMR. I have seen some allright shooting ruger 77/17's but it seems they are preatty hit and miss. You may get a good shooter; you might not.
The only real advantage I see with ruger is that you can put an aftermarket barrel on it preatty easy such as GM or Lilja. I know of a couple of people that have done this with excellent results.
The CZ's, marlins and savages are also cheaper than the ruger and would most likely out shoot them. You can get the savage and marlin in laminate stocks (savage you can get thumbhole) and they do look quite sharp. The CZ's are IMO the best for worksmanship, etc and are excellent shooters as well.

I read some negative reviews as far as accuracy out of the box. Some said it grouped about 2" with the 20gr ammo only, 17gr was all over the paper.
I decided to get the Savage 93R17BTVS, shoots under 1" groups right outa the box with 17gr or 20gr. The savage has such an amazing trigger right out of the box as well.

.The SS lam is the stainless steel model. More of a chrome finish, didn't see any grey on it, other then the laminated stock.
