Love my 204 bull barreled handi rifle! Handi rifles aren't supposed to be the most accurate rifles but this one shoots 0.8MOA all day long. And with the bull barrel I can shoot almost continuously and not overheat. My best load is a 32 grain sbk in front of 28.5 grains of Varget lit by a winchester primer. Highly recommended caliber. Haven't had trouble getting components either.
I sold my 223 to a neighbour after I bought my first 204.I only have 2 204s right now as I sold one to help finance my next gun purchase. I will be ordering either a Sako Varmint Laminate or a Cooper with a custom twist barrel in 204 as soon as I see how much money the tax man leaves in my wallet this year.
It's an awesome varmint cartridge, shoots like a lazer out to 300yds. It does spectacular things to a gopher within 200yds, and you can see your hits. Doesn't heat the barrel up any faster than your 223 would.
I use my 204s for shooting coyotes and I have found that the 204 is more fur friendly when harvesting coyotes for fur. It is also great fun to watch your hits in the scope when out shooting gophers.
You will literally feel so little recoil you'll think its an air gun that makes a big boom. Picked mine up yesterday (Rem 700 CDL) and put one round through out of curiosity as I got home late. I was very impressed.
