Just got back from the range where I shot for the first time my ruger 22/45
and the verdict is:D.. Why didn't I buy one earlier. This gun rocks. Its accurate as a roundhouse kick from Chuck Norris and didn't jam at all. It was also my first experience with cci minimags. For those who don't already own one,BUY ONE BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Too bloody cold to go to the range up here; you must live down in the "warm" part of NB. :D

I almost went with a Ruger 22/45 to supplement my Glock, but I decided to get an AA kit for it instead. Too bad spare mags for the AA kit are over fifty bloody dollars!!

Pssst! I think you should post pics of your new gun! :)

Aren't the mini-mags to hot for pistols ?? not sure, so I am just asking.. you know.

Added: I was thinking of stingers, which are higher velocity. I have the Mark II target, very nice and reliable gun.

I love it. It lets me shoot way more per dollar and I get to practice using the exact same grip and trigger pull. It had/has some minor extraction issues causing double feed malfunctions depending on what ammo I use.

I've found that the Winchester 333 ammo along with the Federal bulk (blue boxes) work between 97 and 99% of the time; although I've noticed it becoming more and more reliable as it breaks in. The 1300 fps 40gr round nose from Winchester (SuperSpeed I think they're called) work 100% of the time as do the 50 round boxes of CCI Blazer. Oddly enough, the bulk pack Blazers fail to extract almost 90% of the time! I figured that they were the same but I guess not.

I actually kinda like the malfunction rate of the cheaper stuff I use as I have yet to experience any sort of malfunction with the Glock when shooting 9mm. It gives me a chance to practice clearance drills. But, as I mentioned earlier regarding the reliability improving with every trip to the range, I won't be too disappointed if the malfunctions disappear altogether! :)

I actually picked it up from Wolverine (site sponsor) for $477 (plus tax and shipping of course). I almost didn't get it due to the price (and the price of spare mags... over $50!!) but I "bit the bullet" so to speak and haven't regretted it one bit.

PS - their website currently lists them "out of stock", but as of a few weeks ago anyway, they definitely had them

I don't think so. I've had several .22 pistols and have fired all kinds of "hot" rounds through them with no damage. I find that the Stingers sometimes cause stovepipes though due to their longer case length.

The Mosquito actually provides a second stronger recoil spring for when you want to shoot faster rounds through it. I think that if you don't swap out the springs the slide may experience more wear and tear as it comes to a stop at the rear portion of its travels which may have been a reason why the earlier slides were cracking, but that's just a theory.

" Chuck Norris "?
Its a .22 man; don't you think describing a .22 and comparing it to Chuck Norris is a bit of a stretch of the imagination.
Just teasing you...
I'm not dissing Rugers; I've got an Old Mark 1 with the long tapered bull and factory muzzle brake and it's stupid accurate too

yeah, since I own a glock, I prefer getting the closest grip angle to it

This comment confuses me... the 22/45 has the same grip angle as a 1911 (hence the 45 in the name) whereas a standard mk III would have the same grip angle as an old Luger (off which it's based) which is apparently more on the level with Glock's 109 degree grip angle ???
