Ruger 22/45 complications

I just got my new Ruger 22/45 Hunter in the mail yesterday, and I think I may have already broke it. From what I've read these things are notoriously difficult to reassemble and that's where my problem lies. I took it apart to clean before taking it to the range and everything seemed to go back together properly. Went to the range...fired like a champ. I took it apart again when I got home and things were going as before until I put in the bolt pin/mainspring assembly. I seated the pin and tried to pivot the spring into the back of the grip but it wouldn't go in all the way, and now it won't come back out either. There is some resistance and the bolt seems to be binding when I pull it back slightly. I'm at a loss...any ideas?
 
Had that happen before.
Safety off,Hold the trigger down and give it a good tug.
Pull the bolt back a hair at the same time if just pulling the trigger doesn't work.

Tip the pistol barrel up next time with the hammer forward when you put the rear spring in.

Thanks for the speedy responses guys. It turns out I got mixed around with the "put the magazine in, now pull it out, now put it in, pull the trigger, remove the magazine...". I went back as many steps as I could and started over, this time with the magazine in and everything fell into place. This magazine safety business is a pain in the arse.
 
If you don't like the mag safety,pull it out and replace it with a washer(or get the dremel out and turn the mag safety into a washer :) as i did).
I did that to mine and have had no issues

I found the mag safety would not let my mags drop free,after the washer mod they fall free for fast reloads.

Do you have any pics of the process? I'm interested in doing it to mine too.

Not really,just pull it apart and replace the mag safety piece with a washer,or cut the mag safety into a washer.

If you paid shipping both ways of your grip frame,i'd do it for you for nothing.It's quite easy
 
I think you have to be a masochist (or just be very anal) to feel the need to completely strip Ruger .22 autos after every range visit.
 
Haven't stripped mine down yet...clean the bore, apply lube where needed, shoot again...when/if it gums up then I'll get out the rubber mallet and watch the reassembly videos :)
 
Now that I know what I was doing wrong it's no big deal to reassemble. I've had it to the range twice now and I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
