I prefer the earlier flat tops, but they have become prohibitively expensive. The new Ruger Blackhawk 44 Special should alleviate some of that pain, however. - dan

Me to. I picked up an old 44 'Flat Top' a number of years back but it's been 'diddled' so it's not really a collector but it is a good shooter
. The work done on it is what appears to be the addition of a custom fitted trigger and hammer from a Super Blackhawk. It's obvious the a good effort was put into the job as the let off is now comparable to the crispness of a S&W, on single action. A 'goodie' on this Flat Top is the Ruger stag horn grips.Another little jewel
I picked up just recently is an old Ruger Single Six with a flat loading gate and the black grips.I would say it's likely that no more than a box or two has gone through the SBH and the case needs the original fittings reinstalled. Someone was going to get the case "re-done" but thankfully I got to it first. I would love to have a flat top or three and a nice old single six. Stag grips are a real bonus if you can find original ones for sure. Some one on here bought a nice flattop .44 with original stags last year and I would like to make an offer if I could find out who got it.

I see them at various gun shows occasionally, but they are spendy. Of course, if you follow the US boards, I've seen guys pay as much for an original set of stags as I've paid for the whole Blackhawk. Great guns though. - dan
Was in my local gun shop when a guy sold them two pistols. I said to my spouse i like that 22 single six with stag grips. She said how much is it worth. I said i would give $400.
When the guy left the dealer asked me how much i would give him for the Ruger. My spouse said i will give you $250 . He scrached his head and mumbled then said OK. I said to her i will pay him and she said no i will pay its my gun. It was made in 1959 .

Any of you guys into the old model Rugers? I've got a mahogany box 4 digit 1960 SBH and a mid 60's Blackhawk .357. I'd like to get a couple more nice early ones.
