Ruger 44 special

I would like to see more of these distributor specials make it up here. I am pining for one of the 5.5" stainless Bisleys, currently being made for Williams Shooting Supply. I know there is at least one in Canada, but that's it.

Anything stainless should be a kitchen implement.

Good one Tooner ! ! ! ! LOL :d

Anything that starts with a .4 is a good reason to get into reloading sooner instead of later. And nothing makes your bank account YELL at you louder to do this than shooting .44 Mag or .44Spl. I can load either for literally 26 to 29 cents per round depending on bullet and powder options. Compare that to the buck a pop or more for factory ammo. And that's when I last looked at it. With the big price increases of the past couple of years I'll bet it's way up from that now.

That's a sweet looking flat top even if it ain't blue :) They really are great fun to load and shoot.

I also have a pair of the Lipseys New Model Vaqueros but I couldn't convince myself I needed the Blackhawk as well, nice find. I load a 200 grain bullet over 5.0 grains of Trailboss. Its a nice light cowboy load. Chrono's about 725 fps from the 4.6" barrels. I found an Uberti 73 chambered in the special to go with them. I sometimes shoot 44 Russian out of the nmv's just because I can, if you are having trouble finding brass don't overlook the Russian or even the 44 colt. Starline makes new brass for both.

Ask Prophet River maybe? That's where I bought my 357 flat top convertible. They had the 44sp flat top and some others. Good selection online.

Is it just me or does a stainless .44 Special seem just a BIT sacrilegious???

Hardly....

Even the very original single action cartridge single actions came nicel plated which is similar in appearance.
I personally think stainless single actions are dead ###y but it is all in the eye of the beholder to be sure.

Even more so on a single action with ady sights.

A wilderness or other carry single action is obviously THE right choice....same for any single action that gets holstered/drawn a lot.....no finish issues.

I'm biased cuz I am a fan of stainless firearms period......

Blued and case coloured pistols are of course also cool and handsome....

Sacriledge....uhm NO.

It appears that the Cowboy Action crowd weenie out and mostly fire 38special. .357Mag is not allowed as the caliber only came on line in 1935. However, the weenie crowd use SAA chambered in .357! No 38-40's, no 44-40's, and most avoid 45Colt too.
Forget 44Special too, 41 Special, & .455 top break revolvers. Seems the CA crowd fire modern calibers claiming to be cowboy action, but phony out.
In indignation, these rubes fire semi-modern smokeless caliber revolvers from 10-15 feet away at 12"X12" steel plates! How do you miss?

Most of the cowboy people do it just for fun and don't take it too seriously, so you definitely wouldn't fit in.:stirthepot2: No difference than getting all dressed up in military togs so you can pretend you're an operator (whatever that is). At the end of the day it's all just another game. You sound not one bit different than the hunters who say pistols and ar's have no use in the world
