ruger 44mag semi carbine??

I have the opertunity to buy a ruger 44mag semi- auto carbine it is in about %75 condition and is nice and light with a 18.5in barrel. what is a fair price to pay for it ? and how good of a gun are they?

Around $400,and they are a very reliable 100yd deer thumper.

Wish I never would have sold mine. Took my first deer with it and then took the second deer 2 minutes later. Then my third deer the next day That gun was a deer magnet

If it is 75% I wouldn't go more than $325

Make sure there isn't some mistake about the barrel length and that its prohibited. I had one at one time, it was a good shooting gun. Sold it to a friend. He registered it, and they advised him it was prohibited.

Sorry, I used the wrong word. I believe they told him it is restricted. When I bought it there was no registry and I had no idea it was or could become restricted. Who knows if they are really correct. But I do believe my friend that when he went to register it they told him so.

A guy in our deer party uses one with 240 gr hollow points. Kills dead very fast and bullets still go through some times.

I too had one and sold it to buy a Marlin lever action. Stupid,Stupid,Stupid. One thing I didn't care for was the tubular magazine. I would have prefered the rotary version they have now...ST...

It's a good deer gun to 100 yds. Comparatively speaking the .44mag is not as good as a 30-30 for general deer shooting distances, but has it does have very good knockdown power at close ranges.

I love my Ruger .44. Light, short, quick to the shoulder. I ended up putting a Williams Peep rear sight and a Fibre Optic front post, what a combo. Perfect for the thick forest where I hunt in Ontario. $400 would seem reasonable to me, $500 for one in Excellent condition.

Very desireable guns in some areas. A good example will go $500. 75% should still fetch $400-425.

I really like mine. Use a Burris 1 1/2 - 6 on it. Set at 1 1/2, its like looking through a picture window.
Passed on one at a show, that I should have jumped on - the International with full stock, with the integral to the receiver peep sight.
When the current legal mumbo jumbo started, in some jurisidictions it was thought that the Ruger was under 18 1/2", and should be regarded as restricted. This was clarified, and the Ruger is classed as non-restricted.
