I have a Ruger 77/44 that is fun to shoot and light etc, and meets all the reasons I bought it. The factory front sight is a little tall resulting in a group 4 inches under point of aim at 50 yards, with the rear sight adj. all the way up. It isn't gonna be difficult to replace the sight with one a little shorter but if I go that route is it worth replacing with something better or different?

Anyone have any firesights or ghost rings on theirs that they are happy with?

Highly unlikely a factory sight will be too tall. What ammo you using?
Contact William's gun sights about fire sights. They don't specifically mention a 77/44 on their site, but that doesn't mean much.

There are a bunch of different sights for that style Ruger Front Sight base. Brownell's has a bunch of every different kind you can think of that fit that sight base.

After you get your Iron sights figured out,,,I would also recommend putting a Bushnell TRS 25 Red Dot Sight on that gun. Ruger has a rail that connects the front and rear scope mount and the Bushnell sight will attach to that rail.

For a gun with a max 200 yard range, and especially if used for hunting in the woods or close cover a Red Dot Sight is a great thing. The Bushnell's are currently pretty inexpensive and I just bought another one last week for $63 US shipped to me. Worth way more than $63!

Best Bang for your optics buck out there by far! I have 6 now and swear by them!!! ,, Not at them!
