Ruger 77/44 magnum

Does anyone own the rugr 77/44 magnum bolt action rifle? Does anyone have any opinions or knowledge on this rifle? I have read that it may have problems with accurracy. Can anyone chime in with reviews of this rifle?

What sort of accuracy are you looking for or expecting from a short barrel .44 mag?

I once had a Ruger 77 in .44 Mag. Came in a trade & went in a trade.

Never had it long enough to work up any handloads for it though.

I figured if you're going to have a Ruger 77 why not have it in a real rifle ctg.

To me the .44 Mag makes more sense in a handy lever carbine or the like.

There was a thread about this not too long ago. I have the stainless version, after playing with loads I get around the 1.5" @100yrds +/- Plenty good in my books, seeing as it is basically a 100yrd and under caliber.

I had one a few years ago, I shot heavy 300 grain loads in it [20 grains of 296] and after about 1000 rounds the action started to get loose and the bolt looked like it was showing signs of metal fatigue so I traded it off. 44 mag is more suited to a lever gun anyway.
