My buddy has a Ruger 77 in .223 and he wants to convert the magazine to a detachable clip. Any of you Nutz know of a kit for this or ???

No feeding problems,He just wants a clip. It is his wifes gun and he likes it better than his Tikka .22-250. We do alot of coyote calling in the winter and we are in and out of a vehicle 10-15 times a day. Alot nicer popping out a clip.

Personally ,I hate hinged floorplates or blind magazines. The bigger calibers aren't bad but I had BRNO years ago in .223 and a blind mag.With a scope on it is a real pain to load this gun. I also have several re-barrelled mausers all with scopes and if you dont set the shells right they will jam. They were made for 5 round stripper clips,loaded strait down and not from the side under a scope. These guns are also a pain to unload.That is why "I" prefer a detachable mag or clip. As far as my buddy's Ruger I think he thinks like me.I don't mind (tolerate) a blind mag. in my .270 mauser,I put in 3-5 rounds and go for the day,but in varmint rifles and hunting were are constantly on the move when calling. We rarely spend more than 1/2 hour at any set before moving to another set. You don't get any DOGS when they ain't there. It is nice to just pop a clip and put it in your pocket. Hinged floorplates are good for spilling ammo in the snow and mud. My buddy does that at least once a day or more. Personally I use Ruger #1's in 6mm rem. and .223...Thats my story and I'm sticking to it...ST...

It was his idea not mine,I'm just looking in to it. I guess the polititions would call it a feasability study. Personally I'd go buy one ready to go with a clip. I think the .223 with a small head is more money to manufacture with a clip.The 22-250 to 30-06 are all the same head size. The .223 is a different action all together,on some guns anyway. I'll stick with my Ruger #1,No fumbling with blind mags. It is either loaded or not with the flick of the lever.
