Ruger 77 Hawkeye Target Varmint

Anyone own or have shot one of these rifles?



I'm interested in a factory rifle to bang gongs out to 500-600y tops.
I can't seem to find many reviews on them.

My 77 Hawkeye in 7mm is more than up to that. They benefit from a little sanding to ditch the barrel to stock contact up front.

I impulse brought one for my wife to shoot (in .223) as she was getting a bit recoil shy with the .308. I can honestly say it is a pleasure to shoot and a real tack driver. She often shoots out to 600 yards with it and regularly out shoots other club members.

Touch wood it has been totally trouble free for the last 4+ years. Just need to find a once piece rail for it.

I have the MkII version in 25-06. Can write my name with it at 200 yards

I Have an older 77VT in .308 Win. It shoots very well & is 100% reliable.
