Any opinions between the Ruger International and the CZ 550 FS as to which one is preferable? I haven't decided on calibre yet but it will probably be either a .243 or a .270.

The CZ may have some plastic on it if thats an issue for you. The ruger has a shorter barrel. I personally think the CZs look a little classier.

I love the look of the Sako bavarian carbine but of the two you list I like the look of the CZ better however the ruger is a solid chioce as well.

I have the Ruger in a Stainless over walnut in a 250 Savage, just a beautiful to shoot caliber. I was surprised how nice the factory trigger is in the ruger. The only reason I bought this rifle over any other was the 250 Savage cartridge. I have Full stocks in Steyr and 527 CZ. The Steyr was $1500.00 and it quite a bit more handsome than the CZ and more accurate as well, nicer set trigger. FS

My personal experience with late production Rugers is that they have really upped the overall quality, especially the barrels. If you're looking for a CRF rifle I think the M-77 MKII in any trim is tough to beat in it's own price range as well as a couple hundred above it. I just wish they would ditch the LC-6 trigger and offer some sort of user-adjustable unit. I always dug the look of the international, but I am wary of all that wood surrounding the barrel and it's affect on accuracy.

My CZ full stock is the most accurate 22 rifle I own, and I own several other CZ rimfires. All that wood might be a problem in a very damp environment but most manlichers shoot pretty well. FS

I own a couple of Sako 75s and like the Sako Bavarian Carbine as well but haven't seen any in Canada yet. I'm in no hurry on this acquistion and it might be worth waiting until I see one.

Was the .250 stainless a limited edition? I don't see it on the current Ruger website.

The Steyrs are great rifles but I've tried that safety and it doesn't work for me. I liked the older style Luxus better.

Yes, they were Lipsey's Special Editions and only a few were imported into Canada. Mine is quickly becoming one of my favorite rifles of all times. While I was not expecting too much out of the RSI for accuracy I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Mine loves the 110 grain Nosler Accubond and will consistently print 3 shots 100 m groups of under 3/4" .

A very good group!
