Anyone got one of these? I'm thinking about getting a moderately priced sporter in .260 Rem & saw them for sale in the new Wholesale Sports catalogue for $699. Several years ago I bought a NIB Ruger 77 MkII in 6.5x55mm from Lever Arms in Vancouver & it shot like a house on fire right outta the box. Could one get that lucky again?

Too bad Remington doesn't offer the CDL in .260 Rem [yet]. :(

while not the 'value' as the m77 mk2 is (including with rings), the Remington m700 LSS Mtn Rifle is IMO a nicer rifle, and has a better reputation for shooting well. Excellent adjustable triggers on the m700's

I dont think the m77 mk2 would be a *bad* rifle, but you got my .02, take it for what it's worth.

The M77 is as tough and reliable as they come. If thats more important to you than tiny groups than it's a good choice. You can always have a little work done to it for accuracy. You should still get good big game accuracy out of it. Even some Remmies have to go into the shop before they will shoot itty bitty groups.

I killed more than 1/2 of the 35 or so big game animals I've taken with my Ruger M77 II. Regret selling it too.

I'm with Todd, I have owned two of them in 260, both were super accurate and a pleasure to shoot, the CRF thing is probably unnecessary in a 260.

The Mountain Rifle LSS is a beautiful looking rifle but the only complaint I have is the balance. The pencil thin barrel makes it too light for me in the front end. Not balanced at all with the stock being the heavier laminate. They look and shoot good though, no denying that.:)

I've considered the Rem Mtn rifle. Not scared away by the price but I prefer a little heavier profile barrel than the 'pencil' one. That's why I was looking at the Ruger. A 22" barrel with a standard profile. Like I said too bad the Rem CDL doesn't come in .260 Rem... :(

rebarrel the action of your choice with a barrel of your preffered contour and length, then bed it into your favorite rifle stock

chamber it in 260 and you'll love it ;) (and not regret it!)

Yeah, you're probably right on there... I do have a spare Remington short action that is a candidate for a rebarrel project... ;)

LMAO, Im new to the Ruger M77 club with an old M77 tang safety in 25-06. The gun was in excellent shape,
First four shots out of it after I lined it up went into 9/16ths of an inch.
With factory ammo to boot. (federal 117 gr sp's,came with the gun)
I havent even tried any of my handloads in it for my M695 in 25-06.
The only ##### is it is heavy compared to my Tikka .
I wish it was in a 6.5, and I wouldnt be selling my Tikka

And I also have a Tikka 695 stainless synthetic in 6.5x55mm. The quest for a .260 Rem is more a "want" than a "need" at this point...
