Ruger 77 Paddle Rifle FTF

My lightly used 1991 production 7.62x39 rifle will not reliably fire WW white box ammo. The prices,er has deep indent but did not fire. Same round in my SKS fired. There is no grease/shavings around firing pin. I assume the WW has harder primers than regular "sporting" ammo. Surplus Berdan primed ammo, same issue with failures to fire.

Recommendations?

Put a stronger striker spring in, common issue for Rugers 77’s

Simply treat as a hang fire.....rotate cartridge and try again. Burn it in the mentioned sks.

Talk to a gunsmith first. They may have a stronger spring that would work without having to order one. And it’s easier for them to install it then you. Otherwise a Wolff striker spring is what you need to order. 22-28# probably doesn’t matter much.

Check brownells. The last time I ordered from Wolff they had a fairly big minimum order to Canada. Brownells sold the same Wolff spring, without minimums and lots of other stuff if you want to make a bigger order - not just springs.

Just my $0.02 that was probably 3 years ago now so things may have changed.

**just looked at wolfs site. The minimum order is only $25 so not really an issue. Buy a lighter trigger/sear spring when you order.**
