ruger allweather 350 magnum-withdrawn

I was told initially by Klondike Bob on this website-and then checked with my local guns store who also told me the 350 RM in Allweather was no longer in production as of the end of 2006-and confirmed that with a call to the supplier. What further adds to the puzzle is chambering the new Hawkeye in an allweather model-but in 358,not 350RM,so they must anticpate a market for a medium bore

Be careful of what suppliers "say". I recently had a supplier tell me through a dealer that Hornady has discontinued their 45cal 350gr flat nose rifle bullet. I didn't believe it when I heard it, and it didn't take long to find out it is not true. If a supplier/wholesaler decides not to carry a particular item, it is easier to say it is 'discontinued'.

Now, it could be very true that Ruger has only made a limited run of the 350RM's (which I heard were made a few years ago and took a while to get to Canada). Ruger, like any other manufacturer, will make and sell what is in greatest demand.

Perhaps it could be 'creative marketing' on Ruger's part as well. Some years ago, they chambered the M77 in 358win and stopped. Those rifles are very hard to find and are quite valuable. Now, the 358 is chambered in the new Hawkeye for 2007...but for how long? Sell out your production run on pre-orders and create a demand and those people who can't get a 358 might opt for say the 338 Federal or even the 375Ruger? In the end, they sell more guns and keep a 'loyal following'.

I'm just throwing that out there as a thought and is just speculation on my part. However, I am guilty of ordering one of the Hawkeye's in 358win (all weather) as soon as it hit the Ruger website. I also have the 350RM all weather and love it. The rifle I still use the most is the first Ruger I bought - the stainless M77 MKII in the boring 308win. That 308 has taken most of the deer I have shot. I also wouldn't mind checking out one of the 375 Rugers as well. I think those will be around for a while.;)

Cheers.

James
