Well, I didn't really need another .22. BUT CZ had this beautiful 'Canadian' edition that was just calling out to me. When I had convinced myself that it should be mine, I went to get it. Well, it was gone :(

However, the kind salesman pointed out to me that a Ruger American in some sorta Crypto camo stock was in, they will only ever get 2, and there is only one left. I held it. and it came home.

I spent a solid 4 hours at the range with this thing. I put winchester white box, super X, mini mags and american eagle through this thing. Not a hick up. Not a burp. Not glitch. I got ragged hole groups with the CCI and Super X. Really decent shooting with all the ammo I tried.

Now, its not the smoothest action. but its good. However, the trigger is amazing for an out of the box gun for this price. It's gonna be fantastic after I break it in. Dressed it up with a bushnel scope. NOthing fancy. It don't need it.

Any other American owners out there? What do you think of it? What glass did you put on it? How do you find the trigger?

i have a RAR in .22LR and put a bushnell banner 1-4x on it. i love shooting this rifle. ive never had any issues with any of the various brands of ammo that i fed it. winchester wildcat is what i feed it most because its cheap but its not the most accurate. one of the members at silverdale gave me a box of really old winchester he had (i think he said it was from the 1980s) and it was dead on.

I love mine its a great gun for the money. The only down side is ive had troubles getting the extra mags i baught to fit. Even the oem ruger mag was super tight.

I've been thinking about getting a RAR chambered in .308 but it seemed a little pricey to buy in .22 considering how many good bolt guns there are available for less?

I have one, and I would suggest to get something else they are not that great. They are picky on ammo and mags.

The Nikon scope I chose for this build also sucks, horrible eye relief, super small field of view and really cheaply made.

I ended up buying a Boyds stock and giving it to my wife... The trigger is actually better than the accu-Junk savage puts out...

I really like the Sightron S1 or S2 for my rimfires, they are cheap to buy and work very well..

I've had the opposite experience with my RA in .22lr and it's currently got a Nikon p22 on it that is doing well for me

Edit: it is picky about mags though IME

The P22 compared to a S1 is night and day... and they are almost the same price. That's why I was shocked on how poorly the P22 is built...

This is why I hate buying online, You always get junk once in a while. At least now I added Nikon right under Vortex to my scope sh!t list... lol...

One day I might live in a City that has a real gun store that has decent stock for me to look at before I buy... but one can only dream...

i picked one up when they first made it up here to Canada and i have no complaints.
as long as a person understands that you are getting a entry level bolt gun and not a $2,000 bench gun, then everything is good.

i picked up mine for $315 and put a Cabela's scope on, ran me just over $100 (Cabela's 4x12x44 Pine Ridge Scope - best entry level optic for the money IMHO).
so im into the gun for under $450 with a couple extra 10rd mags.
no failures so far and no complaints.
really like the factory FO sites too.
i had contemplated replacing the stock with a Boyd's but with the exchange rate and shipping that would run me almost what i paid for the gun, so i opted not too.

now, compared to my savage MKII BTVSS which ran me north of $550 then another $150 or so for optics im into that gun for almost twice the price.
is it twice the gun?

nope.

the RAR is a good gun for the money.
ill be giving it to my son when he is big enough to use it and it will get its work out then for sure.

Also have a RAR in 22LR and its awesome!

The fit and finish is really great for the price range, the trigger is crisp and nice too, even the bolt is great especially after firing couple hundred rounds. In fact I have nothing to say bad about it its my favorite bolt action 22 at the moment. Ruger didnt let me down :)

Will see if it keeps the top spot after I get my cz lol!

The bold really gets a lot better after a few hundered rounds... I love loading up the large capacity 10-22 mags and just shoot for a while.

I never found any bx25 and heard they were banned so I got some reg 10 shot mags instead.

I was browsing the web on us sitez and found out there is even bx15 now damn it sucks to be in canada :(

I just got mine of the other day for my friend, its that grey cryptic cammo, got it at p&d but first the guy had to go show the whole staff the cammo on it lol,but hands down awesome rifle my friend who is accuracy challenged could hit a pop can at 35 yards with open sights, I was very proud of her.
