So I decided to buy a new bolt action .22LR Not yet but in the spring. My decision is the Ruger American and I would like to add a Boyds wood stock which are priced at $92 US. I think both will make a nice rifle. But for anyone out there with one I would like to hear what you think of the Ruger and/or the stocks from Boyd. One selling point is the reliable rotory mag that the rifle has. Thanks

have one, for the price point its a fantastic rifle!
i also have several Boyd stocks and they are also great stocks!

as far as im concerned you cant go wrong with what your proposing, RAR on a Boyd slap some glass on that and your gonna be a happy camper!

These are $300 by comparison, no cast parts, deep blued metal and nice walnut stocks. Boyds shipping is around $50, so $150 on top of the rifle to make an ugly Ruger look ok lol

Zastava (Model 5 I believe). The one I had was a real tack driver. Very well built for the money. I found the mag a bit finicky to remove in mine, but other than that was really pleased with it.

That funny wee thing sort of in frunt the trigger..........izz gawn gawn gawn.
I can shoot like a big boy now.............................................................................:runaway:

I've been looking at these also. $169 here in the states. Too new and I haven't found any sales and discounts for it yet. Most this has going for it for my money is the plethora of Ruger mags I have and it's offered as a compact. Hmm if Boyds offered a Mannlicher stock for it.....just not into the plastic stocked bolt actions. Rather save for a CZ 452/455.

I picked up the compact in .22 WMR for general pest control and small game hunting, couldn't be happier with it. I use the irons, but it's really nice to have the optional stock insert if I ever decide to mount a scope.
