Surplus shoots no problem?

Any pics of your rifle set up?
Mine is the first gen and yes it shoots surplus with no issues. When I first got it the bolt was a little stiff but it loosened up after 100 rounds or so. Pretty accurate for what it is. Not sure how to post pics, new member here.

I’ve had three of these.

The first I bought from Prophet River. It had chamber and headspace issues, and it wouldn’t extract live rounds due to what appeared to be a bolt/extractor problem.

The second was a warranty replacement from Ruger. Unfortunately, it looked like someone had used channel locks on the barrel, and the threads were stripped in the top of the action/receiver.

The third one did function properly, but after the first two experiences, I was pretty jaded, so I sold it fairly quickly.

Overall, the QC on these seems poor. On top of that, the replacement turnaround was brutal—between Ruger’s limited supply and having to go through the Canadian warranty distributor process, it took months between guns. Dealing with Gravel Agency was not fun. they don't stock any parts so even the extractor issue couldn't be solved without months of waiting for them to get a replacement extractor from Ruger. Only so they could then go test the chamber/headspace issue and also confirm that, to then go and wait for a new rifle through Ruger. I sent back fired brass and pictures to demonstrate the issues and it was still a tedious and long process.

Edit/addition:

I bought a Howa mini for less money, Despite it not looking as cool it works much better.

The 3x Gen 2 rifles I had were in x39

I also had a Gen 1 in 5.56 and it shot well, but did have very rough bolt and feeding issues for the first ~100 shots.

Not a gen 2 :(
Nope. The gen 2 stock and spiralled barrel are really nice upgrades. Still love the original too. Very accurate “budget” rifle that shoots cheap ammo and uses mini 30 mags. The gen 2 also has a smoother bolt action out of box, but the original gets smoother the more you work it.
