Ruger American Ranch .308 Cabela's Canada Exclusive.

w00t!

Got my email notice today, my rifle is in store and ready for pickup :) Just in time to mount a scope and get ready for hunting season

Picked one of these up for the wife, came with muzzle brake installed and no thread protector in the box. Haven’t had it out to the range yet but going for a sight-in this weekend.

Mine came with a thread protector included in the small box w/ the bolt and cable lock. They must have Heman installing the muzzle brakes at factory, was scary trying to get the jam nut loose in order to remove it. I don't hunt with hearing protection so the muzzle brake is a no-go for me, also shortens and lightens the gun ever so slightly without it. Comes in at 7 lbs w/ a Bushnell 3500 on top using the exceptionally heavy Leuopold PRW rings. Mine shoots ~1.5 MOA, although I've only put the cheapest Federal Non-Typical Whitetail 150s through it so far. The shortness is it's biggest feature, light and easy to handle. Also being so short it fits nicely into the shorter Ruger 10/22 Allen softcases.

How is the recoil and the muzzle blast without the MB? I mean comparing to a lightweight 18" or 20" barrel 308, such as RAP.

I have one in .308 and found it has no noticeable recoil to speak of. No more than my 30-30 model 94. Also the noise wasn't bad either. It sure shot well.
