After milling around 4-5 different rifles I decided to try one of these. I was a bit hesitant at first after owning 700s/tikka's abd Sako's in the 223 it was more a mental block as how I would go from a $1500 dollar rifle to a $625 dollar rifle and how the ride along would be. Never the less here we are

My set up is basic and seriously all in under $1000 or right around that mark

JP muzzle break
Talley rings
3x12 AR bushnell optic

The gun comes with a pre installed rail which I double checked the installation and was very well done by ruger from factory

I pulled this gun apart first off i wanted to have a better understanding of the new bedding system which is a good idea in principal. It's bedded on cut sleeves in 2 locations on the receiver ingenious actually.

The stock is an injection molded stock I was thinking of replacement but it's webbed property and as ridged as any Tikka stock much better than the savage or rem tupper wear I was actually pleasently surprised how ridged it was

The trigger is simply excellent as advertised much like a Timney mine is set lower than advertised from
2.5 lbs to 5 zero creep ( none ) I kid you not

The barrel it's the same contour as a HB AR barrel making it very ridged it's a hammer forge 1:8 twist

My hopes or expectations were to be able to use a variety of ammo in this gun and use the same ammo as my target AR platforms a 55 gr fmjbt and a 68/69 grain match bullet.

I have currently about 100 rounds through this gun and I can honestly say I am very pleased with it. It performs in every aspect I was hoping.

I find CFE 223 and varget to be about the best

Below is a sample target of what to expect with a 68 gr and a 55 grain. It shoots the fmj hdy bullet better than I expected

I have also taken this out to distance at 498 m and I like what u seen with the performance. No groups at this range just play but 8 inch hits with ease

I had a different optic on for this prior to mounting the AR 223 optic.

All and all for $625 you simply can't go wrong with this rifle.

Upgrades are available such as stocks and 20 Moa rails.

It's a great rifle in my opinion for the $ spent.

I always like to see people take the time to write reviews - thank you for doing so. A suggestion - might want to move to a different forum for wider exposure as this one isn't really ideal for the rifle reviewed. Nevertheless, thanks again for doing the review !

how many rounds in the mag? internal or removable? proprietary mags?

are those targets at 100m?

hows the machining/milling? how smooth and tight is the action?

really looking for something like this, but I overlooked it because of the shorter barrel. I was thinking of getting a 22-26 in tube.

Mag holds 5 , yes it's a polymer that can be ordered from ruger but they work well it's a rotary

About 150 down the pipe and after about 30-50 it was very smooth , finish and milling standard m77 quality no flaws now finish

issues it's a solid built gun

I was questioning the barrel myself however I have shot it to 500 m now and it's a dream it just keeps hitting the same spot.

If you have a text number send me your number via pm will send you some vids of long range
