Hey guys,

Picked up a ruger american rimfire the other week in .22. After shooting it for the first time I noticed a little 'chip' in the receiver;

Popped the stock off to find this;

Little chip at the top of the this little semi-circle on the opposite(?) side of where the retaining pin is punched. Right next to the pin is is a little flaked piece of metal. I do wonder if maybe there was a small 'burr' on the receiver that was caught by the pin when it was punched in.

Anybody seen anything like this? I'm really not looking forward to using the warranty center that Ruger has contracted for Canada; I'd have to ship it across the country and wait potentially weeks or months to get it or a replacement rifle back (+ shipping costs!!) so I'm going to have a gunsmith look at it hopefully this week. Pretty disappointing!

I wouldn't be upset about something cosmetic like that on a sub $500 rifle. Ruger is at the bottom of their 7 year QC cycle, but I'm sure it will shoot fine.

If it's safe and shoots fine I'm not bothered-- just not familiar enough myself with these sorts of things to say it's 100% safe. If it is just cosmetic it's fine.
