The wife just asked me to put together a bolt action .22, She likes my MK2 TR but she doesn't want something that fancy.

She picked out a Boyds tactical stock in cobalt blue laminate and a Ruger American rimfire.

I just have no idea on what scope to get her. She doesn't like my Sightron because its too big and she only shoots at 50 yard. Can you guys recommend me a good scope for her. I'm thinking the Nikon P-22

Nikon P22 (now renamed the P-Rimfire) is nice. But, if you'd consider spending just a few dollars more...

If shooting shorter ranges than 50 yards, the AO on the Nikon ProStaff Target EFR is really nice to have. Its a 40mm objective with slightly bigger bell on that objective for the AO, so you may need some tallish medium or even high rings to mount it. That's the scope I have on my MKII TR.

Other decent alternatives:

Bushnell AR/22 (AR Optics line)
Weaver Rimfire scopes - RV7, RV9 (I think that's the RV9 in kamlooky's picture above)
Leupold VX1 Rimfire

Bushnell Banner

3.5-10x 36mm - Multi-X

17 Super Banner is designed specifically for .17 HMR and .22 rifles.

  • Adjustable objective
  • BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator)
  • Designed for .17 HMR and .22 rifles

For a .22 this is the ideal scope IMO, I have two and they are great.

$116 at Lebaron (You can find it for cheaper if you shop around)

 That's it

Well today was expensive.

found a Ruger Compact .22 from IRG.com and ordered her stock from Boyds...

Thanks for all the info on the scopes, looking at them now....

If targets off the bench at 50 yrds is the game, look at something more than a 3-9. If funds allow, the Bushnell Elite 4-16x40 is very good. Adj objective focus under 25 yrds, 16x gives a good sight picture at 50. Have one on my 452 Lux. Looked at a dedicated .22 cal Nikon, the reticle was way too cluttered for my liking.

Well the wife decided she is taking my P22 thats on my Ruger VLEH, I'm not arguing... So now the new scope is for me... lol...

I aim to please, but I wonder why she is taking a liking to my hobby. 5 years ago I was told guns would never be inside our house. Now she wants her own guns...

I have yet to understand women...But She can shoot my Savage .308 at the 250 yard gong 10/10, which actually scares me....

This is with the modified trigger with a one pound pull.
Light, but the way I like it.
My crappy shooting eye really likes this cross hair.
Not as wide as the Leupold wide duplex, but a nice fine center X.
Glass is really amazingly crisp and clear.

Happy wife = happy life

Seriously, that's awesome that she has come around

as much as i like my Leupold's when it comes to 22 scopes i have switched over to Cabela's house brand, Pine Ridge for all my 22 scopes.
for the money they are the best buy so far that i have used.

ive compared them to my bushnell banner and every other flavor of scope i have and they are super nice.... and cheap.
if you have a Cabela's close by swing in and give them a look.

i wasnt even considering them until my dad picked a couple up for his guns. i initially just chalked it up as old age and senility but after trying them i ended up picking up 4 for myself to run on my new builds and on my kids 22's.

3 DAR's running the Pine Ridge
