Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some input on this. Someone is offering to trade a CZ 455 for my American Rimfire and I want to know what other people think of this.

He originally said that it was a 457 which got me really excited but by looking at the bolt I believe it's a 455.

How would the CZ compare for hunting and plinking? I know that the Ruger has a 60° bolt throw going for it but it has less customizability. Would I want to replace the synthetic stock on the CZ?

Any other input would be welcome

I've included pictures of both, my Ruger has the wood stock while the CZ has the synthetic stock.

Cheers

I’d make that trade every single time. Those 455 stocks are AWESOME. I sold mine last winter due to a family emergency and I have already messaged the fella to ask for first refusal. I have an American ranch rimfire now, and would absolutely make the trade.
What would you say makes the 455 better?
I like the feel of the Ruger in my hands but it's accuracy can be hit and miss from group to group. I think that was from the stock warping so I glass bedded it but have yet to take it out since then

I really enjoy the feel of the cz synthetic stocks. They remind me of hogue stocks IMO. The action on the cz is much better. Accuracy will be better than the ruger aswell. All .22 and rifles in general are picky with ammo, cz should be less so. I am no expert but I have had both rifles and the cz is better hands down.

I have both a 455 and a VMTR-457. Both are most accurate with SK/Lapua ammo but do OK with CCI-SV. The CCI is less consistent than the SK/L brands for shooting groups so you get more fliers IMO. This seems to be a consensus in all comments I've read about CZs. If you're considering this for hunting it's more critical to NOT have fliers and for group shooting or score comps even more so.

Trade, you will not regret it. Different league completely. I have owned a number of Brnos, 2s and a 4; 455s and have built a precision rifle from a 455. Accuracy, solid, smooth actions and versatility. Do it!!!

Hey everyone, thanks for all your input. We ended up doing the trade today, an extra $50 his way and it was a deal.
It seems like a pretty slick gun and I'm happy to take it to the range. I'm also happy to report that the Rutgers accuracy improved after glass bedding

I just dealt with Yodave directly - yodave products .com Shipping is likely Less than a Vendor ? JMO
Total cost was $37.50 for the kit + shipping.

A good trade on your part! I have 2 452's, and have owned 2 457's... all of them fantastic guns. I have the YoDave kits on both 452's, definitely an improvement for them. I ordered straight from the company, but you can get them at Prophet River as well (I believe).

Go with the cz even if he doesnt know what he had. It seems to have a muzzle break which is fine but you can delete that if you want.

As mentioned you might want to do a trigger kit.
