Hi Guys, I have a question for anybody who has the Ruger Blackhawk (BN-31) in .30 cal carbine.
I just bought one, took it to the range, it fires really well.... but when I tried to eject the empties, 2 of them were stuck. I had to take the cylinder out and tap them out with a cleaning rod.
It seems like the shell expands slightly when firing....... I am using regular ammo 110gr FMJ from Sellier & Bellot ......
Anybody seen this problem and/or any recommendations??
Thanks!!

Some of that ammo is very hot. I only reload for mine and with my reloads I have had no problems. I have talked to others and they told me that they have had this issue as well. Has it done it more then once? If so is it always the same cylinders?

Odd.
The cases usually fall out of mine as I rotate the cylinder. At the most, a light tap with the ejector rod.

Do the cases always stick, and in the same chambers?
What does the brass look like when you get it out?

If it's hit and miss on the cases sticking, I'd blame it on the brass. These things headspace on the case mouth, and if one case is a little too long or the crimp too tight, it might get jammed in there.
If it's always the same chambers, then it might be something in the chamber itself (burr, rough machining....).

Before any freak-out sets in, clean it, check the chambers really close and then try some different ammo. Remington works like a charm in mine.

PS
With the cylinder out, drop in some cartridges. They should stop with a clink and the base sticking out about 0.050".

Thanks for the responses guys.... I have cleaned it, will try different ammo, and mark it next time I fire it (brass looks a bit "bulging" afterwards, I think, but loading, they drop in easily)....... I only fired 12 rounds, got 3 (1+2) stuck and got tired of taking out the cylinder every time.....
