Yes, I've had a Zastava although in 9.3x62 and not 6.5x55. I've talked to Mr. Leeper about his thoughts on using the Zastava action as a starting point. He told me that if he was to build a left handed Mauser, he would use a Zastava, so the thought is there. I like the three position safety on the Ruger/Win better than the Zastava and I don' t think there are any available options for aftermarket left handed safety's. My idea for this project is something resembling a Husqvarna, slim, rifle with good balance and great handling characteristics with good sights as back up to a low powered scope. I'm thinking of getting a Husqvarna stock duplicated for this as even if I used the Zastava action, I would not use the Zastava stock. I much prefer the Ruger or Husqvarna stock.
