This may seem like silly question but how can they justify the Ruger BX-25 10/22 25rd mag being prohibited...I know it is because they say on the packaging that it's compatible with the charger pistol but wouldn't ANY other extended mag for a 10/22??? :confused:I.E. All the butlercreek ones, promag, and others...??

I'm no "expert" but it seems odd. What if Ruger made a packaging that said it "was not" compatible with the charger just for the Canadian market? I found these on an old Grouse River page and ordered some but they called and told me they don't sell them anymore.

It has nothing to do with compatibility. It's about what the magazine was designed for. Based on Ruger's labelling the BX-25 was designed for use in the 10/22 and Charger. Based on Butler Creek's labelling the Steel Lips 25-rounders were designed for the 10/22 only. It doesn't matter that they both work in the Charger, only whether they were deliberately designed to.

Not being able to get these magazines here is infuriating. They are all over youtube and guys in the states just love them. Hickok45 just put up a video about the 10/22 take down model, he was using the BX-25 magazines and has nothing but good things to say about them. I guess we shouldn't expect much different from our intelligent gun laws. :HR:

The day that Butler Creek and the others mention the Charger in their advertising, there will be weeping, wailing and the gnashing of teeth.

I could not agree with you more. I was super excited when I seen them on Grouse River, only to get a phone call saying it was an old page you could see when you google'd it :(

I was planing on getting some BX-25.. since that discovery about the Charger vs canada.. i narrowed the choice to Butler Creek Steel Lips 25 round mag or Tactical Innovations mag.. what is your opinion as the best choice ?

Butler Creek Steel Lips
TI25™ MACHINED ALUMINUM (pricy)
TI25™ ADVANCED COMPOSITE
TI25™ POLYCARB ADJUSTABLE

From my gathering...they're not prohibited per se...they just have to be pinned to 10 rounds...there are some in country. I don't know where they got them but I have seen a couple guys at the range with pinned BX25's. Personally, I'd rather have a non-neutered mag but that's just me. As for which are better out of the BC Steel Lips (NOT hot lips) or TI25? I have both and both work fine...I do like the look of the TI25 better...but being able to see how many rounds through the BC is a big plus...so I'll call it a draw.
