Ruger Compact in 260 ?

I have one and I absolutely love it. It's the most accurate rifle that I've ever owned. (No joke). I haven't shot anything yet though.

To each his own, but I'd balk at a 16.5" bbl. Too short, too loud and I suspect handling would suffer.

I own two carbines. One 18.5" and another 20". Those are short & handy enough for fast shooting, but I like the 20" M700 better for handling.

I'll admit to being skeptical about the stubby barrel on my 358 Frontier when I bought it, but it is suprisingly accurate and very handy to use, carries well in the truck or on a quad, or just walking through the woods. :)

Sounds like a great, fast handling, accurate deer rig. I love carbines for deer, in many different calibers. You sir have a true shorty. I have loved the 77RL since I first saw it in the 80s and always wanted one in 257Roberts. I liked the little 1894 Wrangler I had in .32Spcial with a 16" barrel for handling, but I bet if mine had a large muzzle flash in early morning late afternoon, your 260 will in spades if you Handload with WW ball powders.
