not really a big game cartridge accuracy is terrible at best

The 44mag 240 grain is the bomb when hunting the cedar swamps in Ontario . My Ruger semi autos shoot great groups and have killed lots of deer along with some big bucks and a few large bears. The Deerfield is not near the same gun as the old Deerstalker more like a mini 14 never was on my favorite list.

Have one and love it. Also have the 96 lever with original box etc but haven't fired it yet but used so will shoot it sometime. The 99 Deerfield always brings a premium whenever I've seen them for sale and they don't last long so when you see one grab it imo anyways
