Just went to wholesale sports to buy a pellet gun to fart around with in the backyard. I initially was set on a diana 240 but when i held it i could not get a cheek weld if i tried. the sights were just too low profile and i couldnt see them at all, and i dont want to scope a backyard plinker.

The only other Air rifle they had in stock under $200 was the ruger explorer youth model. I held it and while it has a short LOP it felt comfortable and i could see the sight clearly and comfortably.

I took it home with a tin of RWS Hobby pellets for $110 out the door, and at that price i wasnt expecting much. This thing is super accurate and really surprised me, i am easily getting dime sized 10 shot groups at 10 paces with the irons and nailing cans at 30-40m offhand no problem. trigger needs a bit of smoothing but it's not bad and breaks predictably.

I know its cheap and chinese made, but for the money im really happy with it.

Tuned it up today, burnished the cylinder and did a trigger job, re lubed... Awesome. I had to flatten the ends of the mainspring too, as it comes from the factory without having 90 deg ends, gave quite the boing sound when fired. That's gone now also, just a fast thump. If anyone is thinking about one of these I give it a thumbs up, for $95 it's tough to beat.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but my brother has one of these, he wanted to put an optic on it, but there is no rail. Is it possible to install one? Possibly drilling my own holes for a rail or is there some kind of aftermarket item. Anyone have experience?

I tried googling but came up somewhat blank.
