Ruger Frontier.....358 to .350 Rem?

A - yes.
B - yes.

You will probably have to work a little on the follower and feed lips (and will definately have to open up the bolt face), but this is not a difficult modification. Good cartridge choice by the way, I've had a couple 350s over the years (still have one) and it is a great hunting cartridge. - dan

Be certain that you want to do this. Factory Rugers in 350 Rem Mag do not feed worth a hoot!

I have seen one that would not feed at all.

Would be interested in hearing if anyone has one that fed properly without some tuning. :D

I think Whelen B has one that would not feed, so he had it made into a .350WSM...

This Ruger 77 MkII began life as a 350Remington Magnum. I bought it new from Ellwood Epps and it never would feed properly. My repeater was in use a reliable "single" shot. They sent it back to the Canadian Ruger service centre in Quebec to fix it. Ruger Canada service didn't fix it and it came back with the same feeding issues. I was quite frustrated. So in the end it was left up to me to fix at my expense. I decided to void my warranty (like it mattered) by hiring a very good smith to make it feed properly, and while he was at it, rechamber the gun for 350 WSM - just a 300 WSM necked up with no other changes. The conversion was a great success and now so far EVERYTHING reliably feeds I put in the mag - both pointy and RN bullets. Thanks to a pro's action mods and timing, I have a truly dependable big game gun - finally. These are the events that led me to cobble up this great 35 cat.

Well, as long as he's rechambering and modifying the feed lips and follower anyway, it should feed just fine if the work is properly done. If he expects the gun to feed without modification, he'll be sorely disappointed. Not really the question posted though, is it? As for the ballistics, I would still expect 2300 fps with 250 gr bullets out of that stubby barrel. - dan

I agree - or even slightly more maybe. I get 2475MV with a 250gr or slightly better from my 18 1/2" M600/350RemMag using the right powders. The 350RemMag loses little in shorter tubes - http://www.35cal.com/loading.html#600

My 358 Frontier has a very meaty barrel profile. I haven't actually compared barrel profiles with a tape measure but I think(?) my M77MkII/350RemMag (now rechambered to 350WSM) is the same profile. The Frontier has quarter rib holes which the other does not. Also you may get only two in the mag(?) and you need a really good experienced smith to make er feed right.

Why not make it a 350WSM while U are at it:D - can you say "EAR PRotection"?
