Ruger Gunsit Scout Picture Thread...

Yeah I'll get a post up later. Keep in mind when you get this rifle you have to get all the grease out of the bolt and cycle it like 2000 times to loosen it up a bit.

here is my ruger 308 scout with it's buddy a Savage scout in 7.62x39 both wearing leupold scout scopes in low QRW rings!

Hey NWO, thanks for the pic. Do the low rings cause a problem with the front sight? Also, do you see a need for a variable power scout or are you content with the fixed power? Thanks

Low rings are perfect.

fixed power is fine for me... however this new scope is not sighted in yet as I just got in the new year. I believe their (leupold) new scout scope if it ever gets here (to Canada) will be 1-4x.

I did have a 4x fixed leupold FX II on the Ruger scout rifle last hunting season it wasn't the right eye relief but it worked OK. at 100 (at the range) I was dropping 168 gr factory federal on top of each other.

I have max a 200 yard shot in the (beaver meadow) place I hunt, with most shots being under 100. My bait piles are located right around 75 -80yard mark from either stands or blinds so I doubt this 2.5 fixed will be a problem. any bush wacking and the shot will be even closer so I might get lucky and get a chance to use the sights.

Not the highest quality pic, but here's mine (in the middle of my other Woods Rifles)

The Savage is my lightweight whitetail rifle, the Marlin is my everything in the brush gun.

The Ruger GSR has replaced the Savage and will split duties with the Marlin as well - what a great rifle !!

Top is my 1978 Savage 99F in .308

Middle is my new Ruger Gunsight Scout, .308, 10 round Ruger magazine, Triad Tactical Buttstock pouch with suede cheekpad in Ranger Green, Scope is an NC Star 2-7x32 red illuminated long eye relief (something like 10 inches)

Bottom is my Marlin (Actual MARLIN) 45-70 guide gun in stainless with a red dot on the XS picatinny rail (to be replaced with XS ghost & another long eye relief scope)

*** On the fence about painting it with a break-up pattern (grassland or woods). I know I will be keeping this rifle a long time so searching out the right pattern...the current leader :
