Hey,

I just got my scout together. I have to you tell you guys, the burris scout scope is a fine choice if you want to stay true to the Cooper concept!

Highly recommend combo!

Finding appropriate scope covers for the objective's half bell of the Burris might prove top be a challenge, I think I used a set of Blizzards on mine. After a few years of exposure to the elements and to the recoil of the .375 Ultra, the adjustments wouldn't hold, and I switched to an old 2X extended eye relief Leupold.

Google the Korth Gropup in Alberta, click on Leupold, then click on fixed power scopes. The 2.5X28 Scout is item # L58810. This one seems to differ from my old 2X in that it has a bell on the objective, where mine was a straight tube.

I saw (on the internet - h ttp://swfa.com/Leupold-15-4x28-VXR-Scout-Scope-P51466.aspx) 2 new versions of the Leupold scout: 1.5-4x and the 1.5-5x with illuminated reticle...
They seem to be coming from the Leupold custom shop only and I still cannot find any dealer in Canada who can order them for me...

I've emailed Korth and talked about the variable powered scout scope. They told me that they are trying to figure out all the details with the custom shop and will be emailing me with details shortly. There is another Ruger Gunsite Scout Optics thread going on that I will update us Gunnutz. Stay tuned....

If you want a little more power, Weaver is doing a 4x28mm scout scope. Look them up on their site, it is amongst the Classic series, fixed power "K" scopes. Cabelas Canada lists it for $249.99.

In the past year or so I have acquired a conventional eye relief K4 (4x38) and a V9Classic (variable 3-9x38), both second hand, and am pleased with the optical quality. In that respect they seem to me certainly as good as one of the new Redfield Revolution scopes I tried.

Variable Scout Scope...

I just got a reply from the Korth Group regarding the variable scout scopes:

Hello,

I have just found out that because Leupold has designated these as a custom shop item and have not assigned a “part number”, we cannot apply for an import certificate to bring them in to Canada. That is just the way it works. Sorry I cannot give you better news. Maybe if they do well Leupold will consider adding them to their lineup for next year. I really don’t know at this point.

This sucks.

Another option is the Burris 2-7X pistol scope. Unlike any of the other pistol scopes I looked into, this one has eye relief more like a scout scope. Here's a pic of one mounted in Warne QD rings on my M14 shorty. It has a ballistic reticle, which is a bonus in this application.

Nope. 18.5" barrel. Mine's a Criterion, but you can get them from Norinco that way now. Just have to add the Ultimak rail.

This sucks.

Very disappointing indeed...
I asked around and there's a rumor that a dealer may bring in a certain quantity directly but nothing specific yet...
