The Ruger Hawkeye African has been available in a number of different calibers other than the Ruger 375 and Ruger 416. These two rifles come with a 23" inch medium heavy barrel while the Lipsy's
distributer exclusive are current available in 6.5x55 and 280 Ackley improved and have a lighter profile 24" barrel. All these rifles have a matt blue finish and an ebony forend cap. The Lipsy's limited edition rifles are I believe limited to a run of two hundred and fifty according to various comments on the Internet, also they have a blued bolt where as the non distributor exclusive ones the bolt is not blued. In the past Lipsy's exclusive have also included the Rigby 275 and 9.3.x62 calibers with the 24" lighter contour barrel. The 9.3x62 has in the past also been available from Ruger in 9.3x62, however these rifles have the same 23" heavier contour barrel used for the Ruger 375 and Ruger 416, also they have a more gloss blued finish. I believe there was a limited edition Gunblast 9.3x62 in 2011, the number of which where produced I do not know. Also Ruger also sold this rifle as a limited edition for one or more years, again I do not know the number produced, however I have one made in 2011 and I have been trying to find out the number of Ruger Africans 9.3x62 manufactured over the years.
