Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan

Looks like the original Guide Gun. Nice to see it back, I like synthetic stocks more than laminate. At 8.1 pounds it's a bit heavy. I wonder what barrel contour they're using.

But they could take the price of the POS stock that is on it off the normal price
Had one in 416 ruger. Loved the cal. Hated rifle
Stock was garbage
Trigger was garbage
Safety was garbage
Rusted as quickly as any blued rifle.
Great consept terrible follow threw

Having never shouldered one of these stocks, what is the issue with them?

Buckmastr, I agree on the polished metal. My Scout scratches if you look at it wrong.

Love the configuration... just not a fan of Hogue stocks or the matte finish... I will stick with my MKII polished stainless .350 Rem Mag.

The stock was not ideal , but it did seem to reduce recoil which might be one of there reasons. I’ve had maybe 5-6 of them in 375 and 416,all of them were fantastic shooters. Most got a stock upgrade

What is wrong with the stock?

These look like nice guns. I always liked the look of the big bore ones they used to make.

I hate the idea that you have to wear ear protection while hunting.
This 20" barrel with brake will make the mountain shaking. Who wants to be your hunting partner to suffer this?

Really didn't care for the Hogue stock on mine. Replaced it and the gun is way better imo. I have the original without a brake and found the recoil significantly improved without that rubber stock. Not sure if the matte stainless changed but have not encountered any issues with rust.
