Can anyone confirm the way Ruger makes their barrels, actions and stocks. If you wanted to take a 300win mag on the Alaskan stock you could put it on an African, Guide Gun?

The Ruger M77 Mark II and M77 Hawkeye actions and stocks are interchangeable, assuming you have the correct action length, there is minor variability if barrel channels and fitment which may require some sanding, but assuming you are referring to walnut or laminate stocks, these are easy alterations. If your barrel profile is the same, it should pretty much be a drop in fit.

Yep. I bought a Boyds for my 375 Ruger Hawkeye African, and took the walnut African stock and put it on a Mk II .280 Rem. Works fine. Obviously if the barrel channel is larger or smaller you may have extra space or need top sand.

Ok. Cause I was thinking of buying a 300 win mag Alaskan and 30-06 guide gun and swap the stocks around. Ruger quit making the 300 win mag and 338 rcm in the guide gun on 2017 having a super hard time finding used ones. Was able to find a 300 rcm.
