Bought one a couple years ago, still haven't had a chance to shoot it.
Seems to have come with bases that have a fairly substantial elevation, wierd thing is I tried Mounting the scope with the bases reversed, and no difference, the scope didn't have enough adjustment to get on paper even at 25 yards.
Now, my question is really where to start at for bullet weight. I have a ton from an inheritance, ranging from I think 110 to 150 gr.
Anyone with a Ruger have a favorite pet load?

I don't have a Ruger but I've had several other brands come through my hands through the years. I've had great success with H4350 and 140 Hornaday btsp as well as 150 sst's. H4831sc is also another great powder for the 270.

Hard to argue with the 130gr for the 270 win. My current load is a 130gr Hornady Interbond over 55gr IMR4350, going 3050fps from my 22" Savage Axis.

Two other loads I've worked up that had promise were 130gr Nosler ballistic tip, and 150gr Partition. The 150 partition was particularly accurate, but I ran out of bullets and then got a good deal on a box of Interbonds.

Longtime classic load for the 270 has been 130 grain bullet 60 grains of H4831. My Lazerguard shoots that into .5-.6 moa consistently.
However, my pet load in this rifle is the 140 Accubond, chased by 60 grains of Vihtavuori N165. [3020, .5 moa.] Dave.

Be careful, Ted. The M77 Ruger uses 2 different scope ring heights. If yours are the same height, they are incorrect for the M77
You should have a taller ring for the rear, and a bit shorter one for the front.

The #1 Ruger uses the same ring height, front and rear. Dave.

Thanks for this, thought I was going bonkers. The rings appear the same height, perhaps that's why the guy sold me the gun at such a good price. Will get on ordering a set. Any recommendations there?

My friend had always used 160 grain bullets but we went with 150 grain Nosler PT as an alternative.
Nosler's accuracy load was 52.0 grain of H4350.
By this time I had my own 270 in a Remington 700 Classic and this load printed three shots at 200 metres in 1.40".
While it is the most accurate load it is also the lowest velocity but the 52.0 grains is the maximum.

when i loaded my 270 i used Varget an 130gr SP and kept the velocity in that 2800 region, it worked for what i was doin, not ideal but only using about 45 gr of powder... same as a 308:)

i always through that out there, just in case people have bulk Varget and are not chasing every digit of Velocity out of their gun.

these other fellas are right on the money though........ 130-140 gr and some 2209 /4350 and bob ya uncle.

i often get Lads shooting 150gr in their .270s for Sambar down here because the 130gr soft point is fairly specialty an need to be handled with care, where as a TTSX or partition can get sent however it likes and normally still do the deed.
