RUGER M77 owners... your thoughts please

Is the M77 MkII "Target" the only variation with a light trigger? I bought my first *new* rifle this summer..Ruger M77 MkII in .204. Man!! The trigger has about a 2 lb pull then its "another splashed gopher". I`m reading about how everyone is going to buy a new timney trigger.
I love mine the way it is. :D

My 77mkII had 6-1/2lbs pull on it when I got it. Now it is 3lbs and very nice. Not so good the job on my No 1 -thinking of a Timney or Moyers? Anyone any experience with the Moyers? Brownells is selling them for $53 US and are fully adjustable. Got some bits from Brownells for my 1022 and the trigger is pretty nice too. Thoughts?

That being the case, consider the merit of saving some money by buying a MarkII instead of a Hawkeye, use the money saved to pay the gunsmith to work the trigger. I don't know if it was a screaming deal, but I paid $650.00 for my Mark II All weather from SIR, they were on sale to make room for the Hawkeyes.

Not sure onthe pricing of the rifles, but the trigger job cost me abot $30-$40, form Guntech, a fine gunsmith.

It sounds like you got one with a good trigger.:D

The Ruger VT model 77 has a different trigger than the other 77s. I read somewhere that it is the same trigger as Ruger put on the 77s they supplied for one of the "Palma" matches.

This trigger is adjustable & I find it to be well suited for target use.

I've got a Ruger M77 RSM and am thoroughly satisfied with it. It's accurate and the trigger is quite good as well. I've heard that the new Ruger Hawkeye's have a better trigger yet. Based on my experience with the RSM, I'd buy another Ruger.
